Camping Trip

at the Monkey Tree

May 13th 2005

The Devon mob all met at the Tamar Bridge at 3.30 on a rather grey and miserable Friday afternoon. Then in good spirit headed of to the Monkey Tree camp site. After an uneventful and thankfully mostly dry journey we arrived. Here we met up with Dave, Heather Vectra and Josh from Cornwall. Pleasantries said and tents pitched, we headed of for some food and much needed drink!!! Tassels, Sandy and Brian arrived later that evening. We then let the party begin.

On Saturday we awoke to rain, wind, and even more rain. Alan arrived to say hello at breakfast. Later that morning Vectra, Josh, and Brian decided to go home after their tents started leaking. This left the rest of us pondering should we go home or stay? Since we were already wet and cold, we decided to stay. This is when John came back waving a key and asking ," Do you want to see where you are sleeping tonight"? The lovely man only just went and got us a luxury caravan. So of we went and sat in comfort in front of a blazing fire. Later that afternoon three more Plymouth members turned up. Chris, Kay and daughter Kelly aka Wildchild pitched their tents only to also get a caravan. Later that night we again met up with Tassels and Sandy, this time they had two Scrumpies with them. A good night was had by all. we also came to the conclusion that Tassels doesn't hear the same some songs as the rest of us do, this is apparent to all who witnessed his dancing.

Sunday found us all awake warm and dry and in good spirits, except Leanne who had rather a sore head. a good breakfast and of to pack up. The journey home being in the dry as it had stopped raining at last. next time I think we should leave the tents and stay in the caravans. a whole lot more civilized.
